Oldham County residents are eligible to receive a voucher for a free soil test!  Through grant funds from the KY Division of Conservation and Veolia Water North America we are happy to provide 300 vouchers on a first come first serve basis. Simply call our office at 502-222-5123 or drop us an email at occd@insightbb.com to request a voucher.

Spring

Our Annual Tree Seedling Giveaway took place on Friday, April 12, 2013.  Our next giveaway will take place next spring in conjunction with a community wide Earth Day event.  Check back soon for dates and information!

Earth Day - celebrated nationwide each year on April 22nd.

May 1-July 15, 2013

Big Tree Contest - - The contest will begin on May 1st and will run through July 15, 2013.  For 2013 the species is the Ash. Do you have the biggest Ash in Oldham County? 

Find out by entering the contest in one of the following categories:

Grades K-6; Grades 7-12; Ages 18-55 or the Senior Citizens (56 and over) category.  In addition to $50 prize winners in each of these categories, there will be a grand prize winner who will also receive a family membership to the Oldham County History Center!

August through September:

Monarch Butterfly Program  - - Watch for the return of the monarch in our area in April or early May.

Teachers and home school parents interested in participating in the August 2013 program can sign-up by calling our office at 222-5123. We have 100 spots which fill up fast so get your name on the list!

Mid-September be on the lookout for the monarchs as they migrate through Oldham County on their way to Mexico.  It's a truly a sight to see!
