The Conservation District has a major emphasis of promoting wise land use management through their environmental education and outreach programs. The Oldham County Conservation District's philosophy is that long term changes to address environmental concerns can only be made through a comprehensive educational program which begins with our youth. A great amount of effort is given to educational programs that help our youth become more environmentally literate.
The Conservation District is the proud sponsor of Envirothon teams from Oldham County High School . The school's FFA Chapter represents Oldham County in Kentucky 's East Regional Envirothon competition. The "in-the-field" competition offers high school students an opportunity to test their environmental knowledge and compete with other teams throughout the Commonwealth.
The Envirothon is a national competition sponsored by Cannon. On the state level, sponsors include the Kentucky Division of Conservation, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Kentucky Environmental Education Council and the Kentucky Department of Education.
The Oldham County Conservation District continues to add to the teacher/community resource center. We invite anyone interested in acquiring some of our resources to stop in or call for availability.
